Mr. Duc Tran, Ph.D., has been working on microalgae production for over 15 years. Mr. Duc Tran, Ph.D. is responsible for the overall management of the company’s laboratory and microalgae cultivation. He holds a B.S. in biology from the University of Education, Vietnam, a M.S. in Ecological and Environmental Science from the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam in 2002, and a Ph.D. in Biology from St. John’s University, NY, USA from 2004 to 2008 were he wrote his thesis on Secondary carotenoid biosynthesis in the unicellular green alga Dunaliella salina with an emphasis on the phytoene synthase. He also attended Brooklyn College, City University of New york, USA where he did his post-doc with the Department of Biology from 2008 through 2010.
Mr. Duc Tran, Ph.D., specializes Carotenoid and lipid metabolism and up until he assumed his position with Algae to Omega held a position as faculty member of the Department of Biotechnology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Ph.D. has also developed a number of microalgae strains with high contents of Astaxanthin and other valuable carotenoids. Mr. Duc Tran, Ph.D. has published many publications related to the production lipids and antioxidants from microalgae for functional food and nutraceutical applications as well as carotenoid biosynthesis.
